A great english band, that somehow became a legend despite what many said. The vocals fit perfectly and the solos were deadly. Most songs were alike and started the same way, by singing the theme of the song along with chorus riffs. Their first track I remember was released in a compilation; "The Reaper" was weird and with another vocalist.

Lineup:

Stephen Grimmett - Vocals
Nick Bowcott - Guitars
Dave Wanklin - Bass
Mark Simon - Drums (1984-1986)
Lee Harris - Drums (1987)

Albums:

See You in Hell (1984)

The best album of Grim Reaper it featured the track "See You in Hell" a remarkable song
that became a legend, later, Doomstone played a cover of this song. The album included other tracks that were powerful with monumental solos.

1)See You in Hell
2)Dead on Arrival
3)Liar
4)Wrath of the Ripper
5)Now or Never
6)Run for Your Life
7)The Show must Go On
8)All Hell let Loose

An excellent debut album that immediately bewitches you with "See You in Hell", then "Dead on Arrival" and "Liar" are radical but bring great change into the album. "Wrath of the Ripper" is another great hit, powerful with well adapted lyrics. The other tracks are very good too but lack some element, except for "The Show must Go On", which is a powerful ballad that shows you that Grim Reaper is a great band. Overall the solos become a very important element in the songs, fast, aggresive and original create that anti-monotonous tone in the album. This album is probably their best

Fear No Evil (1985)

Their second album was alike their first but not as inspired, same line up but this album had no great hit such as "See You in Hell", but contained many good songs.

1)Fear no Evil
2)Never Coming Back
3)Lord of Darkness (Your Living Hell)
4)Matter of Time
5)Rock & Roll Tonight
6)Let the Thunder Roar
7)Lay it On the Line
8)Fight for th Last
9)Final Scream

The album opens with "Fear no Evil", a song with some good riffs before the chorus, but lacks more guitarwork and melody. "Never coming Back" is fast but slows down in the chorus, fast song, original, with many well done riffs, and an average solo. Track 3 is not good all except for the verses. "Matter of Time" is probably the best song in the album, original guitarwork and a great solo, that appears after a kind of guitar break. The next 2 tracks are not good at all, average guitarwork and seem monotonous if heard well."Lay it on the Line" is has a middle paced tempo that makes it different but not better, as you have noticed this album has a lot of monotony and lack of originality, albiet, Grim Reaper is a sensational metal band. Getting to "Fighting to the last" it seems just like another simple styled Grim Reaper song, most songs are like these, in its sense they are monotonous, but are very good. The last track, starts with a funny intro, then the song starts, yet again with poor originality. The album is not bad, but it turns out to be monotonous, and makes you want to only listen to 3 or 4 songs in particular.

Rock You to Hell (1987)

The last album from the Grim Reaper was somehow focused to be special but althought it had 2 or 4 good songs. This album contained the lyrics, which will be posted soon (I hope, me lazy and busy).

1)Rock You to Hell
2)Night of the Vampire
3)Lust for Freedom
4)When heaven comes down
5)Suck it and see
6)Rock me 'till I Die
7)You'll wish that you were never born
8)Waysted Love
9)I want more

It starts with "Rock You to Hell", intense, just like "See You in Hell", majestic riffs, and verses, The solo is great, and the whole song turns out to be original and fast. The next 2 songs are quite just like the last tracks of their previous album, no comment. Then comes "When heaven comes down", this song is very original with an outstanding solo lick, verses, bridge and chorus fast and outrageous, different kind of solo but still technical. The rest of the songs are very much the same, fast and alike. I am glad Grim Reaper ended here, since it seemed thatthey were turning into some other kind of crap.
